About this course
MA (Hons) in Scottish Literature and Classics, an English Literature and Classics degree exploring the cultural contexts of Scottish literature alongside the scholarship of the classical world. The course features pathways including an ancient Greek pathway, a Latin pathway, and a non-language pathway. Students can choose to take a non-language pathway, an ancient Greek pathway, or a Latin pathway through the classics side of the programme. The first year covers foundational subjects through poetry, drama, prose, the history and culture of the Greek and Roman worlds, ancient Greek language, Latin language, Celtic and Scottish ethnology, business, economics and informatics, politics, social policy, social anthropology and International Relations, art and architectural history, history, classics and archaeology, linguistics and English language, and philosophy, divinity and law. The second year progresses to ancient history, classical art and archaeology, and classical literature in translation.
