About this course
MA (Hons) in Sociology and Social Anthropology, an undergraduate degree in sociology and anthropology combining social analysis with anthropological perspectives. Core topics include Research Methods and Social & Cultural Analysis. This joint degree programme provides a grounding in both academic subjects to examine everyday institutions, culture, identity, and social change. The first year introduces thematic topics through digital lives, race, ethnicity, and power. The third year covers theoretical and empirical approaches through study social theory, environment and risk, kinship, and ritual and religion. Students also complete practical coursework involving learn practical research skills and carry out a group research project. Additional advanced study options explore globalisation, nationalism, the internet, and sociology of emotions.
