About this course
MA (Hons) in Sociology with Quantitative Methods, a mathematics and statistics and sociology degree centred on numerical and empirical approaches to social theory. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, and Social & Cultural Analysis. One quarter of the curriculum is dedicated to quantitative methods, meeting a documented employment demand for numerical data skills in sociology. The first year covers the foundations through social change, stratification, race and ethnicity, gender, social identities, Mathematics for Social Science, and Introduction to Statistics for Social Science, alongside options from a wide range of topics. Later study involves practical research skills, a group research project, social theory, environment and risk, globalisation, nationalism, the internet, and sociology of art.
