About this course

MA (Hons) in Spanish and Classics, a Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and Classics degree combining language acquisition with the study of ancient civilisations. The programme includes a compulsory academic year abroad spent studying or working in one or two destinations. Students can choose between a Latin, Ancient Greek or non-language pathway through Classics. The first year covers the history and culture of the Greek and Roman worlds, ancient Greek language, and Latin language. The second year explores ancient history, classical art and archaeology, and classical literature in translation. The third year consists of a full academic year abroad, which may involve study, work, or volunteering placements. The final year involves advanced study across film, literature, history, politics, language, linguistics, and media and cultural production.
