About this course
MA (Hons) in Spanish, a Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies degree centred on the language, literature, and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. The curriculum accommodates absolute beginners as well as advanced speakers. Students spend the third year abroad studying or working in one or two international destinations, and complete a final-year dissertation in Spanish. The first year allows students to select external courses across subjects such as linguistics and language sciences, business, economics and informatics, and philosophy, divinity and law. The second year features thematic options including Cultural Responses to War, Migration, Exile, Diaspora, and Crime and Detection in Literature. The third year consists of an international placement involving study or work across one or two destinations. The final year covers advanced topics in film, literature, history, politics, language, linguistics, and media and cultural production.
