About this course
BEng (Hons) in Structural and Fire Safety Engineering, a civil engineering and engineering degree focused on building design and fire safety principles. Core topics include Engineering Design and Critical & Analytical Thinking. The curriculum features integrated design projects developed with input from an industrial advisory board. The first year introduces fundamental mathematics and interdisciplinary engineering design tasks. The second year covers structural, soil, and fluid mechanics, alongside fire safety engineering, engineering materials and geology, and environmental engineering and sustainability. The third year advances into conceptual design and sustainability, geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, and transport systems engineering. The final year includes advanced study in fire science and engineering, structural design, and engineering design projects.
