About this course

MEng (Hons) in Structural and Fire Safety Engineering, a civil engineering and engineering degree focused on the principles of infrastructure design, fire safety, and structural mechanics. Core topics include Laboratory Techniques, Engineering Design, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. This four or five-year programme incorporates design projects supported by industrial input and an Industrial Advisory Board. The first year covers foundational mathematics and engineering design tasks. The second year introduces structural, soil, and fluid mechanics alongside fire safety engineering, engineering materials and geology, and environmental engineering and sustainability. The third year advances through structural analysis and engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water treatment and water transport. The fourth year expands into fire science, engineering and laboratory skills, structural design, and offshore and renewable energy. The final year focuses on advanced study in fire safety engineering and structural engineering.
