About this course

BA in Arabic and Politics, a politics and international relations and hebrew and jewish studies degree spanning Arabic language study and political structures. Core topics include Data Analysis, Policy Analysis, and Research Methods. The programme includes a compulsory year abroad spent studying in an Arabic-speaking country. The first year establishes foundations through Politics and Economy of the Contemporary Middle East, Elementary Arabic Language I, Elementary Arabic Language II, and Introduction to Comparative Politics. Optional modules in the first year cover subjects such as Islamic archaeology, regional history, and introductory political concepts. The second year consists of a compulsory Year Abroad module focused on advancing language skills in an Arabic-speaking country. The third year continues language and political study with Intermediate Arabic Language II, The Economics of Politics, and Political Thought of Modernity, alongside various optional topics. The final year features Advanced Arabic Language and a substantial individual research project through the Dissertation module, complemented by numerous optional choices addressing Middle Eastern and global politics.
