About this course
BA in Classical Studies and Philosophy, a Classics and Philosophy degree centred on the integration of ancient cultural texts and philosophical enquiry. Core topics include Research Methods, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students combine the challenge of exploring the culture and thought of the ancient world with the study of philosophy. The first year covers core foundations through Greek and Roman Narrative, Greek and Roman Drama, Knowledge and Reality 1, Knowledge and Reality 2, Evidence and Argument 1, Introduction to Philosophical Analysis, and Philosophy of Morality. The second year advances learning with Greek and Roman Narrative, Greek and Roman Drama, Philosophy of Mind 1, Body and Mind, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language, Philosophical Research, and Moral Agency in Social Context. Optional modules across the course allow study in areas such as ancient languages including Ancient Greek or Latin, ethics, and contemporary philosophical issues.
