About this course
BA in Film & Television Studies, a film studies degree focused on the analysis of cinema, television, and media industries. Core topics include Programming, Fieldwork, Historical Research, and Global & Comparative Perspective. Students can also combine their studies with other subjects through available combined honours pathways. The first year covers core foundations through compulsory modules such as Major Debates in Film Theory, Introduction to Film History, Interrogating Screens, and The Contemporary Film and Television Industries. In later years, students choose from a broad range of optional modules spanning subjects such as screenwriting, world cinemas, television technologies, fan cultures, and practical filmmaking. Optional study areas also include environmental media themes, media adaptations, and specialized cultural critiques involving field-based investigations.
