About this course
BA Film & Television Studies and Modern Languages is a humanities degree centred on Modern Languages and Film Studies. Core topics include Programming, Research Methods, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Language & Translation, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The curriculum provides an international approach to cinema and media through world-spanning historical and theoretical frameworks. The first year covers core subjects such as Major Debates in Film Theory, Interrogating Screens, and French Language. Students can also choose from optional modules spanning historical periods, cultural studies, and regional traditions. The second year continues language development through advanced modules like French Language, Written and Oral alongside specialized options in scriptwriting, television studies, and world cinemas.
