BA Philosophy and Politics
About this course
BA in Philosophy and Politics, a degree in Politics and International Relations and Philosophy centred on the critical examination of political ideas alongside foundational and contemporary philosophical questions. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Policy Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. A wide selection of optional modules in the second and third years allows students to tailor their studies. The first year introduces the foundational concepts of the discipline through compulsory modules including Knowledge and Reality 1, Knowledge and Reality 2, Evidence and Argument 1, Introduction to Philosophical Analysis, Philosophy of Morality, Classical Political Thought, and Early Modern Political Thought. Students may also choose from various optional modules covering Asian philosophy, film, world politics, public policy, and social data. The second year continues with core studies in Philosophy of Mind 1, Body and Mind, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language, Philosophical Research, Moral Agency in Social Context, and Political Thought of Modernity. Further optional modules span diverse areas such as phenomenology, existentialism, logic, science, aesthetics, psychiatry, law, and global politics, enabling students to pursue specific interests.
