BA in Sociology and Modern Languages, a sociology and modern languages degree centred on the study of contemporary societies alongside language acquisition. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Language & Translation, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Social & Cultural Analysis, and Global & Comparative Perspective. Students have the option to spend their third year studying or working abroad in a country where they can develop their chosen language. Running across four years, the course begins with core language training in a chosen modern language, paired with foundational sociological modules such as Contemporary Society: Themes, Perspectives and Case Studies and Social Analysis. The second year continues language development through modules like French Language, Written and Oral, German Language, Written and Oral, Italian Language, Written and Oral, Contemporary Russian Written and Oral I, and Spanish Language, Written and Oral, alongside theoretical grounding in Theoretical Sociology. Optional modules span diverse topics including digital culture, historical developments, and anthropological studies, allowing students to tailor their learning across both disciplines.
