About this course

BSc in Biological Sciences, a biological sciences degree exploring living organisms and ecological systems. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students can tailor their studies to include specialisms in Animal Biology, Microbiology and Infectious Disease, and Molecular and Cellular Biology, alongside optional residential field courses in the UK and abroad. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Biochemistry, Genetics, Ecology, and Microbiology. The second year builds upon these principles through compulsory training in Research Skills and Bioethics, while offering various optional modules spanning marine biology, animal behaviour, and molecular genetics. Students may also choose a four-year programme incorporating an industry placement year or a period of study at an international partner institution.
