About this course
BSc in Environmental Science, an environmental science degree centred on natural systems, global challenges, and ecological interactions. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Policy Analysis, Environmental Analysis, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. This three-year undergraduate programme is delivered at the Penryn Campus in Cornwall and includes opportunities to participate in multiple field courses alongside research exposure through the Environment and Sustainability Institute. The first year establishes foundational knowledge through compulsory modules such as Earth System Science, Global Issues in Environmental Science, Introduction to Data Science, Marine and Environmental Science Field Course, Field Course: Environment and Sustainability on the Isles of Scilly, and A Legal Foundation for Environmental Protection. Students can also select from optional modules spanning Environment, Society and Business, Atmospheric and Oceanic Systems, Their Interactions and Importance, and Quantitative Methods for Geoscientists. The second year advances core technical training with compulsory modules including Geographical Information Science and Systems, Remote Sensing for Environmental Management, Research Design and Methods, and Environmental Regulation and Redress. Optional modules in the second year allow students to explore topics such as Conservation Science, Landscape Evolution, and Physical Ocean Processes.
