BSc Geography
About this course
BSc in Geography, a geography degree centred on human and physical environments and spatial dynamics. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Human Behaviour, Social & Cultural Analysis, and Global & Comparative Perspective. Students can transfer to BSc Geography with Applied GIS starting from the second year to graduate with a specific specialism. The first year covers Earth system science, environment and sustainability, core geographical concepts, research skills, and fieldwork, with optional study in place and global change. The second year introduces numerical methods for physical geographers, applied GIS mapping, and research design, alongside optional modules covering topics such as past environments, the Anthropocene, ecosystems, climate change, remote sensing, sustainable seas, and migration. Optional modules in later stages allow for specialisation in areas like climate, hydrology, biogeography, and coastal environments, supported by field courses and experimental laboratories.
