BSc Geology
About this course
BSc Geology, a geology degree focusing on the physical processes, evolution, and systems of the Earth within Earth and Environmental Sciences. Core topics include Programming, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Ethics & Professional Practice. The curriculum incorporates over 60 days of fieldwork and independent research possibilities, delivered at the Penryn campus in Cornwall through the Camborne School of Mines. The first year establishes core foundations through modules such as Earth System Science, Earth and Environmental Chemistry, Field Geology and Geological Maps, and Quantitative Methods for Geoscientists, alongside Dynamic Planet and Earth History and Palaeontology. The second year advances into specialised subjects through Structural Geology and Tectonics, Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, Geological Mapping Techniques, and Geophysics, supplemented by Igneous and Metamorphic Geology.
