About this course
BSc in Mathematics and Data Science, a mathematics and computer science degree combining mathematical techniques with applications in data science. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete research projects in each academic year and have the option to undertake a year-in-industry placement at partner organisations. The first year introduces foundational material through compulsory modules such as Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Foundations, and Probability, Statistics and Data. The second year advances quantitative and computational proficiency via compulsory modules including Machine Learning and Data Science, Team Project, Differential Equations, and Statistical Modelling and Inference. Optional modules in the second year allow specialisation in areas such as Computational Intelligence and Mathematics of Machine Learning and AI.
