About this course
BSc in Mathematics with Economics, a mathematics and economics degree focused on analytical techniques applied to economic and quantitative problems. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course is taught jointly by the mathematics department and the business school, with an option to complete an industrial placement year at organisations such as Lloyds Banking Group, Coca-Cola, Met Office and PwC. The first year establishes foundational knowledge through Economics I, Economics II, Foundations, Mathematical Structures, Mathematical Methods, and Probability, Statistics and Data. In the second year, students study Microeconomics II as a compulsory module alongside a selection of optional modules covering Differential Equations, Vector Calculus and Applications, Statistical Modelling and Inference, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Groups, Rings and Fields, Linear Algebra, and Mathematics of Machine Learning and AI.
