BSc Sociology
About this course
BSc in Sociology, a sociology degree centred on empirical and theoretical investigations of human societies, institutions, and contemporary social phenomena. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Marketing, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Social & Cultural Analysis. The programme is delivered by the Centre for Computational Social Science and includes an optional work placement lasting three to six weeks. The first year introduces foundational concepts and quantitative techniques through modules such as Social Analysis, Imagining Social Worlds, Introduction to Social Data, and Data Analysis in Social Science 1. The second year advances theoretical frameworks and methodological design via Theoretical Sociology, Research Design in the Social Sciences, and Data Analysis in Social Science 2. Optional modules in later stages allow students to pursue specialised topics across diverse thematic areas.
