About this course
MEng in Civil Engineering, a civil engineering degree centred on practical design, construction, and infrastructure analysis. Core topics include Programming, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, Communication & Writing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Ethics & Professional Practice. Students benefit from site visits and fieldwork, with options for summer placements and an industry placement year. The first year covers the foundations through Engineering Mathematics and Scientific Computing, Multi-Disciplinary Group Challenge Project, Fundamentals of Mechanics, and Fundamentals of Materials. The second year focuses on Civil Engineering Challenge Project, Modelling of Engineering Systems, Soil Mechanics, and Solid Mechanics. The third year advances into Civil Engineering Hydraulics, Digital Engineering and Building Information Modelling, Geotechnical Engineering and Foundation Design, and Structural Engineering.
