MEng Environmental Engineering
About this course
MEng in Environmental Engineering is a chemical engineering degree focusing on sustainable infrastructure, natural resource management, and technical solutions to ecological problems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Project Management, Environmental Analysis, Engineering Design, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The four-year programme includes an optional work placement year and is delivered at the Penryn Campus in Cornwall. The first year establishes engineering foundations through compulsory modules such as Engineering Mathematics and Scientific Computing, Multi-Disciplinary Group Challenge Project, Fundamentals of Mechanics, Fundamentals of Materials, Fundamentals of Electronics, and Fundamentals of Engineering. The second year expands into technical applications with Geographical Information Science and Systems, Remote Sensing for Environmental Management, Grand Geoenvironmental Challenges, Geotechnics, Data, Signals and Systems, Renewable Energy Systems 1, Fluid Mechanics, and Discipline Group Challenge Project. The third year addresses specialized methods through Hydrogeology, Life Cycle Analysis, Risk, Reliability Systems and Safety Management, Dissertation Project, and Environmental Engineering Consultancy Project. Students can also select from optional modules including Applied AI and Control, Wind Energy, and Sustainable Architecture.
