About this course
MEng in Renewable Energy Engineering is a chemical engineering degree centred on clean and renewable energy technologies. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, and Environmental Analysis. The programme is delivered on the Penryn campus in Cornwall and incorporates dedicated workshop and laboratory spaces for practical project work. The first year establishes engineering foundations through compulsory modules such as Engineering Mathematics and Scientific Computing, Multi-Disciplinary Group Challenge Project, Fundamentals of Mechanics, and Fundamentals of Electronics. The second year advances core knowledge with modules including Data, Signals and Systems, Electrical Energy Conversion and Transport, Applied Thermodynamics, and Renewable Energy Systems 1. The third year incorporates focused study through Network Engineering, Monitoring and Management, Renewable Energy Field Course, and Dissertation Project. Students can also tailor their studies by selecting from optional modules covering Marine Renewable Energy, Life Cycle Analysis, Wind Energy, Energy Storage Technology, Solar Power, and Sustainable Architecture.
