About this course
MSci in Computer Science and Mathematics, a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science focusing on the intersection of computational systems and advanced mathematical theory. Core topics include Programming, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This four-year integrated master's programme allows students to study advanced material and undertake a substantial independent project in the final year. The first year establishes core foundations through compulsory modules such as Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Computers and the Internet, Foundations, Mathematical Structures, and Mathematical Methods, while also offering optional choices like Fundamentals of Machine Learning and Data Structures and Algorithms. The second year continues with compulsory study in Team Project and Software Development alongside various optional topics spanning computing and mathematics. In the third and subsequent years, students complete an Individual Literature Review and Project while choosing from numerous specialized optional modules across both disciplines, including Data Science at Scale, Computer Vision, High-Performance Computing, Cryptography, and Commercial and Industrial Experience.
