About this course

MSci in Zoology, a zoology degree centred on whole-animal biology, ecology, and the evolution of animal life histories. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, Fieldwork, and Human Behaviour. The course provides an opportunity to work on a project focused on a specialised area aligned with a leading research group. The first year covers foundational principles through Ecology and Conservation, Animal Diversity, and Evolution and Genetics, with an optional module in Life Processes. The second year expands into data analysis and environmental adaptation through Analysis of Biological Data, Adaptations to Life on Earth, Scotland Field Course, and Scillies St Agnes Field Course, alongside optional choices such as Population and Community Ecology or Animal Behaviour. Third-year studies involve advanced research training through Research Project and Literature Review in Evolution and Ecology, combined with specialised field courses like Tropical Biodiversity and Conservation: Costa Rica Field Course and Alpine Ecology Field Course. Optional modules in the final stages allow specialisation in areas including Marine Vertebrate Conservation, Animal Cognition, and Primate Biology and Conservation.
