About this course

BEng/MEng in Aeronautical Engineering, an aerospace engineering degree focused on the scientific principles behind aircraft design, propulsion, and control. Core topics include Programming and Entrepreneurship. Students participate in practical laboratories, including operating a jet engine test rig, and undertake a flight-testing course utilizing a Saab 340B aircraft during the fifth year of the MEng route. The first year covers core foundations through Aerospace Engineering 1, Engineering Mathematics 1, Thermodynamics 1, and Statics 1. The second year introduces analytical and computational methods with Introductory Programming 2, Aerodynamics & Aircraft Performance 2, Aerospace Design Project 2, and Mechanics of Structures 2A. The third year advances into specialized technical subjects involving Aircraft Design Project 3, Control 3, Propulsion & Turbomachinery 3, and Flight Mechanics 3. The fourth year expands into advanced analysis through Individual Project 4, Finite Element Analysis 4, Computational Fluid Dynamics 4, and Business Planning and Management for Engineers. The final fifth year concludes the MEng qualification with advanced specialized study including Aircraft Development 5 and Individual Project 5.
