About this course

MA in Ancient History, a history degree centred on the history and culture of Greece, Rome and the wider Mediterranean. Core topics include Research Methods. The first year covers the foundations through Classical Civilisation 1A: Myth and Politics in Classical Athens and Classical Civilisation 1B: Augustan Rome: From Republic to Empire. The second year progresses through Classical Civilisation 2A: Identities, Ideology and the Hellenistic World and Classical Civilisation 2B: Empire and Identity. Students undertake a core travel course across years three and four. Optional modules span subjects such as Ancient Medicine, Ancient Technology in Context and Ancient Warfare. The course concludes with a dissertation in ancient history.
