About this course

BSc/MA/MA(SocSci) in Archaeology, an archaeology degree centred on the study of past human interaction through material culture within Psychology and Archaeology. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can undertake practical fieldwork on excavation projects in the UK and internationally across Europe and the Near East. The first year introduces foundational study through Archaeology 1A: The Archaeology of Scotland and Archaeology 1B: Archaeology in the Modern World. The second year builds on this with Archaeology 2A: 20 Things that Changed the World and Archaeology 2B:Theory and Practice. In later years, students select from a wide range of options including Historical Landscapes of the Eastern Mediterranean, Geographical Information Systems in Archaeology, and Environmental Archaeology; Plants, Animals and People. Optional studies also cover specialised subjects such as Experimental Archaeology, Public Archaeology, and Virtual Pasts (3D Computer Graphics and VR for Archaeology and Museums) UG.
