Entry requirements

You will be required to have completed an HNC, SVQ3, SVQ4 or equivalent professional qualification in Children’s Care, Learning & Development or Playwork. You will be expected to undertake placement-based assignments and must currently be working in a pre-five setting, out-of-school care service or similar working environment and have a minimum of two years’ experience in a childhood practice setting. This is a professionally accredited programme and due to the practice qualification, registration and employment requirements it is not usually suitable for international applicants. For applicants from non-English speaking countries, as defined by the UK Government , the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.

About this course

BA in Childhood Practice, a childhood practice degree designed to enable practitioners to gain an academic and professional qualification. The programme enables individuals with experience of working in childhood practice to meet the requirements of the Standard for Childhood Practice while remaining in employment. The degree satisfies the registration requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council for managers and lead practitioners in day-care services for children.
