About this course

MEng in Civil Engineering with Architecture, a civil engineering and architecture degree exploring the built environment through structural principles and architectural practice. Core topics include Engineering Design and Entrepreneurship. Delivered in collaboration with the Glasgow School of Art, the curriculum incorporates studio-based design work focused on physical models and portfolios. The first year covers foundational principles through Engineering Mathematics 1, Statics 1, Dynamics 1 and Materials 1. The second year introduces specialized topics via Soil Mechanics 2, Structural Design 2, Geology and Surveying for Civil Engineers 2 and Structural Design Project 2. The third year advances technical knowledge through Fluid Mechanics 2, Structural Mechanics 3, Geotechnical Engineering 3 and Construction Management 3. The fourth year focuses on complex analysis and management with Finite Element Analysis 4, Structural Analysis 4, Advanced Steel and Concrete Design 4 and Individual Project 4. The fifth year concludes with advanced studies including Conceptual Design Project M, Architecture C5 and Individual Project 5.
