About this course

MA in English Literature, an undergraduate degree spanning BSc (Hons) Data Science and English Literature and Film Studies subject areas. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can undertake a dissertation in their final year. The first year covers poetry and the study of the novel through compulsory modules English Literature 1A: Poetry & Poetics and English Literature 1B: Critical Skill-Making: The Study of the Novel. The second year focuses on ecologies and the body via English Literature 2A: Writing Ecologies and English Literature 2B: Writing the Body. Later years provide a wide range of option choices covering periods, genres, and theoretical approaches, including American Literature 1 (1836-1929), American Literature 2 (1930 to present), Literature 1510-1660: Rethinking the Renaissance, and James Joyce. Students complete their studies with options such as English Literature Dissertation, Creative Writing Dissertation, or Applied Dissertation with Placement in English Literature.
