About this course
BSc in Environmental Geoscience (faster route), an environmental geoscience degree centred on the interaction between natural geological and anthropogenic processes and environments. Core topics include Research Methods. Faster route students receive an additional week of study during welcome week to benefit from learning and technical induction activities. Year 2 covers the foundations through Earth Science 2A and Earth Science 2B. Year 3 builds on this with compulsory modules including Sedimentary Systems and Deposits, Hydrogeology, Landscape Dynamics, Glacial Landsystems, Environmental Aqueous Geochemistry, and Environmental Geoscience Skills. Optional study in the third year allows specialisation in areas such as Geological Hazards, Planetary Science, Oceanography, Polar Environments, and GIS A:Applied Spatial Analysis. Year 4 focuses on Advanced Environmental Geoscience Skills, Engineering Geology: Geotechnical and Environmental, Climates: Past and Future, and Geo-Environmental Policy and Planning for Sustainable Futures, alongside an Independent Environmental Geoscience Dissertation.
