Entry requirements
A level: ABB or BBB (Additional requirements: A-level English or another Humanities subject.) IB: 34 (6,5,5) (Additional requirements: English HL6 or Humanities HL6 with English SL6.) Scottish Higher: BBBB is the minimum requirement from S5 to be reviewed for an S6 offer Offers are not guaranteed to applicants who meet the minimum from S5 Typically offers will be made at AAAAB by end of S6. B at Advanced Higher is equivalent to A at Higher Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject at AA. (AB or BA may be considered). Scottish Higher (widening access): MD20 : BBBB (also other target groups*) MD40 : AABB* Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject. About this course
MA in German, a politics and international relations and german degree centred on the study of a key European language and its culture. Core topics include Research Methods. The five-year undergraduate degree includes a mandatory year abroad pathway with options for study, work placement, or an assistantship. The first year covers language and culture through German Language 1 (Beginners) and German Culture 1 (Non-Beginners). The second year continues language proficiency and cultural studies via German Language 2 and German Culture 2. The third year is spent abroad undertaking either GERMAN YEAR ABROAD STUDY, GERMAN YEAR ABROAD WORK PLACEMENT, or GERMAN YEAR ABROAD ASSISTANTSHIP. The fourth and final years involve advanced modules such as German Junior Language Project, German Liaison Interpreting, and European Political Thought: A View from Germany, alongside options including Translation Studies: An introduction to key topics in theory and practice, The Brothers Grimm and the European Fairy Tale, and Classic European Cinema East and West, as well as a German Dissertation or Applied Dissertation with Placement in German.
