About this course

MA/MA(SocSci) in History, a history degree in the Psychology and History subject area. Core topics include Research Methods. The programme spans four to five years, incorporating options for a History Dissertation or an Applied Dissertation with Placement in History. The first year covers foundational topics through History 1A: Scotland's Millennium: Kingdom, Union and Nation c.1000-2014, History 1B: A Medieval Mosaic: Europe and Its Neighbours in the Middle Ages, c.400-1500, Introduction to Scottish Culture Semester 1, and Introduction to Scottish Culture Semester 2. The second year builds on this with History 2A: The Social and Cultural History of Europe, 1500-2000 and History2B: An Introduction to Global History. In later years, students select from a broad range of optional modules such as Demanding The Impossible: European Societies In The 1960s, Gaelic Scotland: The Scottish Highlands C1400-1609, and Patriarchy, Sex and Gender in Early Modern Europe.
