Entry requirements
A level: ABB or BBB (Additional requirements: A-level English or another Humanities subject.) IB: 34 (6,5,5) (Additional requirements: English HL6 or Humanities HL6 with English SL6.) Scottish Higher: BBBB is the minimum requirement from S5 to be reviewed for an S6 offer Offers are not guaranteed to applicants who meet the minimum from S5 Typically offers will be made at AAAAB by end of S6. B at Advanced Higher is equivalent to A at Higher Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject at AA. (AB or BA may be considered). About this course
MA in Italian, an Italian and Classics degree focusing on Italian language, literature, and cultural history. Core topics include Research Methods. Students spend the third year abroad on an assistantship, study placement, or work placement. The first year introduces foundational language and culture through modules such as Italian Language 1 (Beginners) and Italian Culture 1 (Non-Beginners). The second year builds proficiency through Italian Language 2 and Italian Culture 2. The third year consists of the compulsory year abroad options: ITALIAN YEAR ABROAD ASSISTANTSHIP, ITALIAN YEAR ABROAD STUDY, and ITALIAN YEAR ABROAD WORK PLACEMENT. The final years advance linguistic skills and allow deep specialisation through optional modules such as Italian Modernism: Svevo And Pirandello, Italian Resistance To Fascism 1943-45, and Translation Studies: An introduction to key topics in theory and practice. Students also complete an independent research project through options such as Italian Dissertation or Applied Dissertation with Placement in Italian.
