Entry requirements
A level: ABB or BBB (Additional requirements: A-level English or another Humanities subject.) IB: 34 (6,5,5) (Additional requirements: English HL6 or Humanities HL6 with English SL6.) Scottish Higher: BBBB is the minimum requirement from S5 to be reviewed for an S6 offer Offers are not guaranteed to applicants who meet the minimum from S5 Typically offers will be made at AAAAB by end of S6. B at Advanced Higher is equivalent to A at Higher Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject at AA. (AB or BA may be considered). Scottish Higher (widening access): MD20 : BBBB (also other target groups*) MD40 : AABB* Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject. About this course
MA in Latin, a mathematics and classics degree focused on the study of the Latin language and literature alongside Roman history and culture. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can visit archaeological sites and museums in Italy as part of the programme. The first year covers basic language acquisition through Latin 1A: Basic Latin 1 and Latin 1B: Basic Latin 2 alongside two other subjects at pre-Honours. The second year progresses with intermediate study via Latin 2A: Intermediate Latin 1 and Latin 2B: Intermediate Latin 2 alongside two other subjects at pre-Honours. The third and subsequent years involve advanced study including Advanced Latin for Honours and a Core travel course (Years 3 and 4). Optional modules allow students to explore topics such as Ancient Technology in Context (Linguistic Pathway), Ancient Warfare (Latin), The Novel in Antiquity (Latin), and Rhetoric at Rome (Latin). The course culminates in a Dissertation (Latin).
