Entry requirements
A level: ABB or BBB (Additional requirements: A-level English or another Humanities subject.) IB: 34 (6,5,5) (Additional requirements: English HL6 or Humanities HL6 with English SL6.) Scottish Higher: BBBB is the minimum requirement from S5 to be reviewed for an S6 offer Offers are not guaranteed to applicants who meet the minimum from S5 Typically offers will be made at AAAAB by end of S6. B at Advanced Higher is equivalent to A at Higher Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject at AA. (AB or BA may be considered). Scottish Higher (widening access): MD20 : BBBB (also other target groups*) MD40 : AABB* Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject. Successful completion of Top-Up or one of our Summer Schools.
About this course
MA in Liberal Arts, a modern languages and liberal arts degree centred on interdisciplinary study across the arts and humanities. Core topics include Research Methods. The programme incorporates a subsidiary subject chosen in the first year and pursued throughout the four-year duration. The first year covers foundational interdisciplinary concepts through Liberal Arts 1A: Introduction to Public Humanities: Arts-Based Inquiry for Social Justice and Liberal Arts 1B: Intercultural Literacies (C4L), alongside subsidiary and college subjects. The second year continues with Liberal Arts 2A: Beyond Borders and Boundaries: Exploring Roots and Routes in Human Mobilities and Liberal Arts 2B: Cultures and wellbeing. The third year shifts towards environmental and global themes with Liberal Arts: Scottish and Global Environments: Past, Present, Future, complemented by subsidiary subject courses and honours options. The final year concludes with the Liberal Arts Dissertation alongside advanced honours options and remaining subsidiary credits.
