About this course
BSc/MSci in Materials Chemistry, a chemistry degree centred on studying the role chemistry plays in nanotechnology, electronics, polymers and energy storage. The course includes a compulsory work placement year. Students learn through practical hands-on experiences, lecture courses and advanced analytical methods. The first year covers foundational concepts through Chemistry 1. The second year builds upon this with Chemistry 2X and Chemistry 2Y. The third year advances into Organic Chemistry 3, Inorganic Chemistry 3, Physical Chemistry 3 and Frontiers Of Chemistry 3M. Later stages involve specialized study including Inorganic Chemistry 4H (Half), Functional Materials 4H, Materials Characterisation 4H, Physical Chemistry 4H, Chemistry Special Topics 4H, Inorganic Chemistry 4M (C), Functional Materials 4M, Materials Characterisation 4M, Nanostructured Materials 4M, Physical Chemistry 4M (A), Chemistry Special Topics 4M (A) and Chemistry Problems 4M (A).
