About this course

BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering, a mechanical engineering degree centred on engineering principles and industrial applications. Core topics include Engineering Design and Entrepreneurship. Practising engineers contribute to lectures and provide employment opportunities. The first year covers foundational principles through Analogue Electronics 1, Design and Manufacture 1, Mechanical Design 1, and Engineering Skills 1. The second year progresses with Design and Manufacture 2, Mechanical Design 2, Materials 2, and Power Electronics 2. The third year builds advanced competence via Control 3, Fluid Mechanics 3, Heat Transfer 3, and Instrumentation and Data Systems 3. The fourth year features Finite Element Analysis 4, Individual Project 4, Mechanical Design 4, and Business Planning and Management for Engineers. The final year concludes with an advanced Individual Project 5.
