About this course

BD/MA in Theology & Religious Studies, a theology and religion degree spanning the historical, philosophical and cultural dimensions of religious belief and practice. Core topics include Research Methods. The curriculum provides a structured pathway from foundational scriptural and historical study to advanced specialist investigation. The first year covers foundational themes through modules such as TRS 1: Creation To Apocalypse: Introduction To The Bible, The God Question: Exploring Christianity, and Religions in Asia. The second year builds upon this knowledge with compulsory study in areas such as TRS 2: Christian Traditions and Transformations, Mysticism And Spirituality, and Texts and Cultures of the Bible. In later years, students choose from a broad selection of optional modules covering scriptural studies, historical theology, and contemporary religious issues, including Existentialism: Atheism, Reason, and Faith, Christianity and Bioethics, and Doctrine of God. The final year culminates in a substantial independent project through either the Dissertation or the Applied Dissertation with Placement in Theology and Religious Studies.
