Entry requirements
120 UCAS points. We accept a full range of qualifications that carry UCAS points, including A-levels and BTECs. Please see our guide to the UCAS Tariff for examples of how to achieve these points. For most courses, we are also able to consider non-tariffable qualifications. Please note that this course is only available to Home students. Any subjects are acceptable at Level 3. You must have at least five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent). These must include English Language, Mathematics and a Science. Please contact us for a list of acceptable GCSE equivalents. Applicants who do not have the traditional entry requirements but do have relevant experience or qualifications may be considered after discussion with the programme team. For example: Combat Medics from the Military. You'll need to be 18 years of age by the start date of the course. This Programme prepares you for professional practice in a range of emergency and healthcare environments. You will therefore need to demonstrate the physical, psychological, cognitive and sensory capabilities necessary to participate safely and effectively in clinical practice and meet the relevant professional standards, including the standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Assessment of these capabilities will be undertaken on an individual basis, taking into account the requirements of the programme and the relevant professional standards. These capabilities will be considered through the University’s Occupational Health and Fitness-to-Practise (FtP) processes as applicable. A disability, health condition or other individual circumstance does not automatically prevent admission or progression. Where appropriate, the University will consider reasonable adjustments to enable you to demonstrate that you meet the required competence standards. You don't need prior experience working in healthcare, but you must have a passion for caring for others. Qualifications gained outside England and Wales will be assessed on an individual basis according to guidance by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). If your application is successfully shortlisted, then you’ll be required to attend an interview. The interview process will involve face-to-face interviews with academic staff, practice staff and service users.
