Entry requirements
Most importantly, you need ambition. Together with our support and opportunities, you can go further than you ever thought possible. Our typical offer for this course is 96–112 UCAS points . Our contextual offer is 96 points. But there’s no ceiling on ambition. At least 80 points must come from A levels, BTEC, or other equivalent qualifications . Remember, we look at your whole application – not just grades. Achievements, work experience, extracurricular activities: they all count here. Applicants should have an A level in Music or Music Technology at Grade C or above, or an equivalent Level 3 music qualification Your instrumental or vocal performance skills should be at a minimum of Grade 7 level. Musicians who can demonstrate performance at this level but who have not taken practical examinations are also encouraged to apply. Alternative qualifications IB Diploma: 28 points including 5 at HL Music Pass Access to HE Diploma overall with a minimum of 96-112 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 18 credits at Merit in Music
About this course
BA (Hons) in Music, combining technical musicianship with critical and contextual study. Core topics include research methods, data analysis, project management, communication and writing, and design and creative practice. The individual creative project offers options such as performance, composition, recording, or sound design. The course includes placement opportunities through partnerships with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera North.
