About this course

MSci in Biochemistry, a biochemistry degree within the biochemistry subject area. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Research Methods. The course concludes in the final year with a seven month research project, and students can specialise in areas such as immunology and infection, systems biology, cancer, structural biology and drug design, cellular biophysics and neuroscience in the third year. The first year covers foundational principles through Biological Chemistry, Cell Biology, Enzymes and Metabolism, Molecular Biology, and Core Skills for Life Scientists. The second year progresses with Structural Biology, Genes and Genomics, Integrative Cell Biology, Protein Science, Bioinformatics, Programming and Statistics, Tutored Dissertation, and I-Explore. Optional modules in the second year include Computational 'Omics, Topics in Biotechnology, Challenges in Cell Biology, and Applied Molecular Biochemistry.
