About this course
BSc in Chemistry is a chemistry degree centered on the study of matter, chemical reactions, and molecular properties. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Teaching takes place at the South Kensington Campus and the Molecular Sciences Research Hub in White City, incorporating an independent research project in the final year. The first year covers foundational concepts through Language of Chemistry, Structure and Bonding: Atomic Structure to Molecular Orbitals, Introduction to Spectroscopy, and Reactivity at Carbon Centres. The second year progresses to advanced chemical systems with Electronic States and Bonding, Analysis of Molecules, Materials and Mixtures, Solids, Liquids and Interfaces, and Control and Selectivity in Molecular Synthesis. The third year involves specialized study through Advanced Chemistry Topics 1, Advanced Chemistry Topics 2, and Practical Chemistry 3 for BSc Chemistry.
