At least an A is required if applying with four A-levels); A in a third/fourth subject (A-levels), 40 points -- to include: 7 in Mathematics at higher level; 6 in Physics at higher level (International Baccalaureate)
About this course
MEng in Civil Engineering, a civil engineering degree focused on infrastructure, environmental systems, and structural mechanics. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Project Management, and Engineering Design. Students undertake practical field trips including land surveying and a geology field course, participate in Constructionarium to build scaled-down versions of infrastructure projects, and complete an individual research project in the final year. Throughout the first two years, students build a comprehensive foundation through compulsory modules such as Professional Engineering Practice, Civil Engineering Design 1, Mathematics 1, and Computational Methods 1 in the first year, followed by Civil Engineering Design 2, Mathematics 2, Computational Methods 2, and Statistics in the second year. The third year continues with core studies including Civil Engineering Design 3, Computational Engineering Analysis, Structural Mechanics 3, and Dynamics of Structures, alongside optional choices such as Nonlinear Structural Analysis, Theory of Shells, Coastal Engineering, and Highway Engineering. In the final year, students complete an Individual Research Project while tailoring their studies through optional modules including Operational Research and Systems Analysis, Steel Structures and Design, Applied Hydrodynamics, and Geotechnical Hazards.
