About this course

MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Management, an electrical and electronic engineering and business and management degree centred on combining technical engineering principles with commercial and business management studies. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete substantial project work throughout the course, culminating in an independent final-year project of their choice, and have the opportunity to undertake a six-month industrial placement or a group consultancy project in the third year. The first year covers core technical foundations through compulsory modules such as Mathematics 1A, Analysis and Design of Circuits, Digital and Computer Architecture, and Programming for Engineers, alongside a major group design project. The second year builds upon this with compulsory study in Signal and Systems, Electromagnetism, Control Systems, and Power Electronics and Power Systems, alongside a second electronics design project. The third year combines technical subjects with business studies through compulsory modules including Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Project Management, and Managing Innovation, while allowing specialisation through optional modules such as Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Embedded Systems, and Robotic Manipulation. The final year features advanced compulsory business and management modules like Managerial Economics, Strategic Management, and Corporate Finance, alongside an extensive selection of advanced technical options such as Full-Custom Integrated Circuit Design, Sustainable Electrical Systems, and Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS).
