About this course

MEng in Electronic and Information Engineering is an electrical and electronic engineering degree combining electronics, computer science, and information engineering. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, and Control Systems. The course features a common first year programme, practical laboratory work, and a choice between an industrial placement or a group consultancy project in the third year, culminating in a substantial individual project in the final year. The first year covers the foundations through Mathematics 1A, Programming for Engineers, Analysis and Design of Circuits, and Electronics Design Project. The second year continues with core studies in Communications, Control Systems, Instruction Architectures and Compilers, and Signals and Systems. In the third year, students undertake an Industrial Placement or Group Consultancy Project and can select from optional modules such as Deep Learning, Digital Signal Processing, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning, and Robotic Manipulation. The final year includes core modules in Engineering Ethics, Sustainability and Professional Competencies as well as an Individual project, alongside optional advanced modules like Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Digital Image Processing, and Human-Centred Robotics.
