Entry requirements
Qualifications needed for 2027: UCAS tariff points: 112-128 Any Level 3 qualifications (e.g., A-levels, BTEC Diploma, Access Diploma, IB Diploma, etc.) including Music or a related subject. Additional requirements: Please submit either a digital audition or music portfolio. You will be sent guidance on how to upload your digital audition or portfolio when you have applied to your course. Digital audition Your digital audition should be a performance clip of 3 minutes of music. This could include: Music portfolio If you choose to submit a music portfolio instead of a digital audition, please include a couple of recorded tracks/demos you have worked on or a link to a SoundCloud/Bandcamp/YouTube page. The tracks/demos included in your portfolio should demonstrate your skills and abilities in either song writing, beat making and/or sound engineering. The aim of the portfolio is to showcase your potential as a music technologist. With this in mind, your portfolio could include: In addition, please provide a short (500 words) written statement to make it clear what your contribution is to the music you have submitted as part of your portfolio. What we're looking for The audition or portfolio does not need to demonstrate a perfected skill or finalised music idea. What we're looking for in your audition or portfolio > English language: English language requirement for this course: Academic IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5. About this course
BA (Hons) Music, combining music production with sound engineering. Core topics include Programming, Signal Processing, Research Methods, Ethics & Professional Practice, and Design & Creative Practice. The course is based at Kingston School of Art and uses the Visconti Studio, developed in partnership with producer Tony Visconti. A final-year Professional Project allows students to produce a substantial creative work in performance, composition/production, or a research dissertation.
