About this course
BA Hons in Architecture (Placement Year), an architecture degree centred on spatial design, technology, and professional practice. Core topics include Research Methods, Fieldwork, Project Management, Engineering Design, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Ethics & Professional Practice. Students undertake an integrated work-based learning placement year in the third year of the programme. The first year introduces architectural design, spatial exploration, site analysis, architectural history, and structural principles through modules such as Architectural Design Studio 1A, Architectural Design Studio 1B, Architectural Humanities 1, and Architectural Technology. The second year progresses to live projects, building regulations, urban masterplanning, and eco-technology via Architectural Design Studio 2A, Architectural Design Studio 2B, Architectural Humanities 2, and Architectural Technology and Professional Skills. The third year consists of the Work Based Learning Year placement. The final year focuses on advanced site analysis, integrated technology, and professional responsibilities through modules including Architectural Design Studio 3A, Architectural Design Studio 3B, Architectural Humanities 3, Integrated Technology, and Professional Practice.
