About this course

BSc Hons in Biology, a biology degree centred on the scientific study of living organisms and ecosystems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Fieldwork, Environmental Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Human Behaviour. The curriculum incorporates practical classes conducted in laboratory facilities and field trips. The first year builds foundational knowledge through compulsory modules including Evolutionary Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology, Introduction to Biosciences, and Molecules to Cells, alongside optional choices such as Biodiversity and Global Change. In the second year, students choose between molecular and cellular biology or organismal and environmental biology pathways, with optional modules covering Biochemistry of Cellular Metabolism, Biological Research Design and Delivery, Cell and Developmental Biology, and Ecology and Conservation. The final year centres on the Biosciences Research Project and offers further specialisation through advanced optional modules such as Advanced Drug Design and Development, Animal Behaviour, Bioinformatics, and Marine Ecology Field Course.
